A TGWTG fic thats set in awesome_emmy's Experiment universe.

“You’re ready for your Grand Ole Opry perfomance?” A nice tall brunette lady by the name of Terri Clark asked, She was standing near the entrance of the stage next to a smaller man.

“Ready as I ever will be. Surprised they even let me on knowing how crazy I can be on stage,” The man replied, getting a chuckle out of the taller women.

A minute later the current singer had stopped and the announcer started up the introduction to his set, including a duet with Terri.

10 years ago the former mad scientist, formerly known as Insano, had somehow ended at Nashville. He wondered the lower part of the US for the last year after Linkara dumped him somewhere in Phoenix.

He was living off the streets like a certain someone used to do, Chet? Clay? he can never seem to remember the names of the people he would associate with after Linkara had dealt with him after Spoony left. A month after that a kindhearted soul took him in, the man, who was named Big Kenny, figured out something must’ve happened to the dark haired boy as he kept telling him he didn’t remember anything about his life.

“You’re telling me you don’t know who you are at all?” He asked, standing in front of him, the other on the couch.

“Yes sir. All I remember is someone in a fedora threatening me about something before being hit with a white light. Next thing you know I woke up outside a diner being helped up by umm oh Dierks Bentley was his name.”

“Oh ok.”  Kenny’s wife, Christeiv had stopped in her tracks holding her son Lincoln, wanting to listen to the story.

The mind erased Insano then proceeded to tell him how Dierks took him to a hospital to get him checked out.

“He was really nice, he even offered to pay the medical bills. Anyway while I was there I was told that I had severe memory loss.”

“That’s sad, can you remember anything?” Christeiv had chimed in, walking in and sitting down next to the man.

“I can remember parts of my childhood, the fact that I was born somewhere in the Southwest and this little pink blob I had. Everything else is just fuzzy. I’m not even sure on what my name is.”

“Something with an I....I don’t know,”

“Ira!” Lincoln shouted happily, trying to help. He was sitting in Christeiv’s lap.

“Maybe. I don’t know.” He replied, playfully ruffling Lincoln hair.

Lincoln’s suggestion had brought out a laugh in him.

“If you don’t mind perhaps Ira will be your name? For now at least? Big Kenny said.

“That’s fine with me “ The man now known as Ira replied.

A couple days then passed and Ira and Kenny strucked a deal. Kenny would let him live there providing he get a job and help around the house. He ended up becoming Kenny’s assistant after a long month of no returned calls from various jobs.

Over the years he had been making a new life for him. He has been getting guitar lessons from Kenny and trying his hand at writing songs. Kenny even recorded one of them for one his cd’s.  Ira then had gotten a gig performing at Tootsie’s and before he knew it, had a record label deal with Terri Clark’s indie label.

“I’ve been watching you play for the past 2 years and I see talent in you.” Terri had said to him one day after his set has finished. They were both sitting down at one of the tables.

“Thanks Terri. I won’t let you down, I’ll do my best and win the audience over, with science!”

Terri just laughed as the other man caught his mistake, “Oops, I’m sorry. I don’t know why I said that,”

Terri put a hand on the arm that wasn’t covering his face in embarrassment, “It’s fine, I understand. Kenny told me what happened to you.”

“Oh he did?”

“Yep. I understand. You know maybe you can work that into that song you’re trying to write.”

“Great idea! Thanks.”

5 years later after being dumped in a city, the man formely known as Dr. Insano, was coming out with his debut album.

6 years later, he has proven his worth in the country music biz as being one of the top new acts of the year.

7 years later, he made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry, and came out with a new CD.

10 years later and he still haven’t recovered from his memory loss.

“You want me to go WHERE? to....to see WHO?” Critic yelled into the phone. Linkara was on the other phone.

“Medicine Hat and Ira Sauson.” Linkara replied, hearing the Critic making angry sounding noises before demanding to know why.

“You remember that bet you and Chick had, to see whose 10th anniversary special would get more hits. The loser has to do what the winner wants to do?”

“Oh God” Critic suddenly remember and mentally cursed.

“As you know she is a fan and wanted someone to come with. I’m going in place of Nella cause she’s busy that week.”

Linkara couldn’t help but laugh at the Critic’s displeasure as he started ranting over the phone.

“Ok Chick, I told him.” Linkara said, hanging up.

The comic book reviewer was over at the Chick’s house just to spend time with a friend. Right now Chick was on the sofa, her eyes not moving away from the TV at said singer was about to sing.

“Good.”

A few days later all three found themselves on a plane headed towards Canada.

“Why the hell did I agree to go to some stupid show featuring some stupid guy singing the stupidest dumbass songs I ever heard!” Critic ranted, which of course made Chick glare at him.

“You lost the fucking bet asshole!” Chick started, “...and call his songs stupid one more time, I will caster...”

“Alright! That’s enough! I don’t want to spend the trip with you two arguing.” Linkara scolded, rendering them to stop.

The trip continued in relatively silence. The Critic made a few lighthearted jokes about Canada and Chick bringing up the boy up to speed on the singer’s profile,

“...and don’t try to ask for details on why Terri gave him her birth last name. He said it was for PR purpose and left it at that. I heard a rumor that he has memory loss and couldn’t remember it, but he won’t say anything if you try to ask.”

“Ok, thanks for letting us know,” Linkara said, “So he’s private?

“Yeah on a few things, mainly his life story. That’s why you got some stupid ass insane fans of his claiming he was born in their city.”

All three started laughing, “I even heard someone saying he was really Terri’s son. Boy did Terri have a hard time telling fans that he wasn’t her son. Same for Ira.” She stated, all three still laughing.

The next day was the day of the concert and all three were in the front row. The opening act had ended her set and was now introducing the next act.

One thing that the Critic did admit, was that it was amusing to see his counterpart act like a fangirl. Linkara was just simply enjoying the music.

As the main act walked up to the center of the stage with his guitar, Linkara couldn’t help, but wonder where he saw him before. Even though the fact that the singer’s hair was down to his chin with a couple of strands shorter.

While the Chick was jumping up and down to the music, Linkara pulled the Critic a little ways behind her.

“Does this man look familiar to you?” Linkara asked Critic, “like someone we known before?”

“How the hell would I know that?” The Critic replied, in a louder than needed voice.

“Well I don’t know! I just can’t help but think this guy is Insano masquerading or something,” Linkara stated.

They both started at the man on stage before realization hit them,

“It is Insano, wow he definitely changed.” Linkara stated, not taking his eyes off in disbelief.

The former mad scientist then started a ballad about his memory loss and how it troubles him not knowing what happened before being dumped at Phoenix.

Linkara remembered the day it all happened. Right after Spoony left, he grabbed Insano and through him in a corner, He wanted to add insurance to make sure Insano never harmed Spoony again so he just simply hit the mind erase gun a second time on him.

He stood there in a trance before Critic snapping him out of it asking if they should protect the fans or something.

“No, I have a feeling nothing will happen. I erased more of his memory that day.”

“Oh, well should we tell Spoony or something.” Critic then simply asked.

“Lets keep this to ourselves..Think about it. Everyone all around is better off not knowing and Insano seems pretty happy with his new life,” Linkara started, “Spoony would be safe and Ask That Guy won’t try and stalk him down.”

The Critic nodded in agreement.

Linkara however did let Terri know a few days later as he knew from various sources that she was trying to find out who he really was.

Dear Linkara,

Thanks for letting me know. I’ve been trying for the last five years to find out his background but to no avail.

I don’t want any harm to come to Spoony or your friends so I do agree that it’ll be better off this way, even though in other situations I will tell the person who they really are. plus I don’t want to run the risk of someone like Ask That Guy as you said.

And you’re right, he does seem happier as a country singer.
